In case you missed it (for shame!), this May, at Collective 2, Moss Bureau presented a selective retrospective of the work of Hella Jongerius. The exhibit included studio work, solo exhibitions, commissions and collaborative pieces developed over the artist’s long history and friendship with Moss. The Moss Gallery always carried something of Hella’s. And now Moss continues the tradition by presenting the pieces on the Moss Bureau site, for sharing, for educating, for pleasing and of course, for sale.

The Hella Jongerius Exhibit at Collective 2 is finally coming together, and we couldn’t be more excited! Because we’re so good at sneaking peaks for you, here are some previews of what’s to come this weekend. Remember, Collective 2 runs from May 8 through the 11th at Skylight at Moynihan Station, and Hella’s exhibit is a special solo of her work. Be there!
Drumroll, curtain, welcome!
A snippet of Hella’s collab work with Vitra. We’re only revealing fragments of the show, appropriately in accordance with the concept of the installation.
What’s in the box? If it interesting enough to hold the attention of a bunch of college guys, it’s gotta be worth seeing.
Murray in his element. That’s the light bulb that goes off when Murray gets a new idea. It’s proportionate to his brilliance.

It may not look like much yet, but just you wait. We spent our Wednesday morning scoping out the midtown Manhattan gallery in the historic James A. Farley U.S. Post Office building, for Hella Jongerius’s Special Exhibit at this year’s Collective Design Fair May 8-11. If you’ll recall, Collective announced a special exhibit for Hella, to be curated by Murray. Catch him and Franklin in action below as they plan the installation. And don’t forget, you can get your own Hella at the MossPop store.
Here’s Joe, our behind-the-scenes mastermind, documenting the glorious space.
“And over there …” Murray and Franklin in a totally (really, I’m serious) not staged action shot.

Well, the tea pot may. We wouldn’t recommend drinking hot liquids out of Baccarat crystal.
We’re talking of course, about our exciting Monday morning photo shoot for Moss Bureau’s L’ArcoBaleno online gallery and shop, featuring curated sets from the MossPop store, and the Bureau’s Private Sales and exclusive collection of rare, limited edition and hand crafted pieces.

Paper Magazine‘s Kim Hastreiter talks supermarket super design on this Flashback Friday (can that be our new thing?), and revisits a 2002 discussion with Murray on the core principles of art, design, food and fashion retail merchandising. And now I’m hungry. Click to see an enlarged image and read the full Q&A, then let’s eat.

Likely inspired by the exceedingly high demand for warm comfort foods recently (how mysterious, could it be the weather?), this week’s New York Times Dining and Wine Front Burner featured the retro-inspired coffee thermos from none other than the Philip Johnson Design Store. The article credits Murray for the store design, and mentions the former Moss store and galleries.
Go ahead, have a pour. Click the coffee pot to read the article.
