mossbureaubog is the covert gateway to the innerworld of Moss Bureau. Behind the scenes, through the looking glass, up the down staircase, over the rainbow, all around the town. Our town. Our Town. We cover the bureau-front, from top to topless, stem to stern, sea to shining see. We open drawers, and draw our own conclusions. The designers, the artists, the interns, friends and foes, clients and miscreants, consultants and co-defendants, the Fairs and the unfair, the good fight and the bad lieutenant, lies, truths, massive cover-ups, mitigating circumstances, plausible deniabilities. The undercooked and the overlooked. Wet-work, dry wall, the dog, the pony, the smoke and the mirrors. We look down the barrel, pull the trigger, and face the music. Fearless, feckless, and born to run. Sometimes a cigar really is just a cigar. Think different. It’s later than you think.

There’s no business like the pink flamingo business, especially at the Moss Bureau enhanced shop at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. These babies get a lot of attention. No surprise, really. Just the thing to be riding around your pool on these hot hot summer days. Giddy up, Divine! Eat your heart out, John Waters.
Her death today was absolutely shocking. I think it’s because Zaha was always so amazingly powerfully THERE. She was a life force. She was brilliant and she was mean. A life of fighting for position took its toll. She was not nice. In fact, she was horrible. Look at that face. But you could not resist her and you could not ignore her astounding work. We will miss all aspects of this giant relentless breathtaking woman. Click on her photo above to go to a tribute today in the Guardian, a list with photos of her ten most extraordinary buildings. And click on the photo below to go to a great interview with her in an amazing magazine called UNCUBED. It’s where both of these photos are from.
It’s unbelievable what’s happening here in the land of March Madness and April Showers and May Day! May Day! May Day! Spring ahead for savings beyond human understanding. Click on SAVINGS to be transported right there. You will not be sorry. Well, you might be one of those depressed people who are just always unhappy in which case we can’t really engage. But otherwise, mossPOP is the ticket to springtime happy.
Ali Tayar was a friend and colleague, and a great and talented architect and designer and we will miss him terribly. Click on his photo to read the moving obit that Fred Bernstein has written in Interior Design.
It’s funny how you take certain people for granted, thinking they’ll just always be there, so you don’t pay the attention you maybe should. What an amazing life David Bowie had. What a spectacular play across music and theatre and everything in between. He was truly transformative in ways we’re only now realizing. Including releasing his last album two days before he dies, fully aware of his impending death. Click on the photo to go to a Huffington Post piece about his great breathtaking duets. You’ll be lost for the rest of the day.
2016 is going to be a big year for Moss Bureau. We have new clients, we’re launching a new website, two new Instagram pages and this very blog is about to be transformed into a stupendous forum. For those of you who have been just waiting for something new, watch this space. We’ll starting rolling things out over the next week. Except for the obvious reasons why it’s not, 2016 is going to be a great year to be alive. And, of course, what’s the alternative? Stay tuned, friends and neighbors, stay tuned.
