Giant Pink Flamingo x 2, at the MFA shop in Houston

FlamingogoThere’s no business like the pink flamingo business, especially at the Moss Bureau enhanced shop at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. These babies get a lot of attention. No surprise, really. Just the thing to be riding around your pool on these hot hot summer days. Giddy up, Divine! Eat your heart out, John Waters.

Life is so complicated

screw_comp3So stop screwing around. Moss Bureau can simplify things. It’s simply what we do. Click  to learn more.

Zaha Hadid dies at 65

zahaHer death today was absolutely shocking. I think it’s because Zaha was always so amazingly powerfully THERE. She was a life force. She was brilliant and she was mean. A life of fighting for position took its toll. She was not nice. In fact, she was horrible. Look at that face. But you could not resist her and you could not ignore her astounding work. We will miss all aspects of this giant relentless breathtaking woman. Click on her photo above to go to a tribute today in the Guardian, a list with photos of her ten most extraordinary buildings.  And click on the photo below to go to a great interview with her in an amazing magazine called UNCUBED. It’s where both of these photos are from.

RIP, DAVID BOWIE

Striped_bodysuit_for_Aladdin_Sane_tour_1973_Design_by_Kansai_Yamamoto_Photograph_by_Masayoshi_Sukita__Sukita_The_David_Bowie_Archive_2012It’s funny how you take certain people for granted, thinking they’ll just always be there, so you don’t pay the attention you maybe should. What an amazing life David Bowie had. What a spectacular play across music and theatre and everything in between. He was truly transformative in ways we’re only now realizing. Including releasing his last album two days before he dies, fully aware of his impending death. Click on the photo to go to a Huffington Post piece about his great breathtaking duets. You’ll be lost for the rest of the day.

RIP, Richard Sapper, father of the Tizio

sapperRichard Sapper designed one of the most popular lamps of all time, the Tizio. That’s it on the upper left of the photo above. Which was taken at Moss, by the way. Just saying. Sapper also designed a nearly as popular espresso maker for Alessi, the 9090, and later an electric version, which is also on the wall, just above his right arm. He also designed the IBM Thinkpad and famously said no to Steve Jobs who wanted him to come to Apple. Click on the photo to go the Times obit. RIP, sir.
